Introduction to APA Format

You are required to use the American Psychological Association style format for all written documents within the EdD program. This tutorial within the Introduction to APA Format module is intended to provide an overview of APA format, which is critical to the issue of plagiarism. For this module, you will take the "Test Your Knowledge" questions at the end of these sections. The final section, "APA Resources", includes links to sites and sources with further information concerning questions you may have regarding APA style format.

Required Text and Introduction Video

The Publication Manual of the American Psychologoical Association (APA, 2009) is a required text for the program. Please purchase the manual and have it available when you are completing written assignments. You will need to refer to the manual throughout this program, but it is critical that you become familiar with the important feartures of the style now. Please read the first three (3) chapters to familiarize yourself with the style guideliens.


Two important components of APA format are citing resources in the text of your paper and creating the reference list. Access the video to the right for an Introduction about APA Formatting.
